Bethlehem in Burnet

December 2, 2017 @ 3:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Take a step back in time as you stroll through a full scale model of what Bethlehem would have been like when Jesus was born. You will hear the noises, smell the smells and see the sights of 1st century Bethlehem. This is a great experience for the children.

We will start with a meal at the Dahlia which is a typical small town Texas café that has been serving rural Texans for over 50 years. Dahlia Cafe There is a play ground for the children and a very “Texas décor.”

Main Street Bethlehem is a fun, interactive activity. The people in Burnet, TX have built a village resembling life in Bethlehem at the time of Jesus’ birth. As you walk through Bethlehem, you experience the feelings of the people as they went about life in Bethlehem. You see, hear and speak to shepherds, candle makers, Roman soldiers, jailers, tax collectors, people in the tavern, basket weavers, beggars and others too numerous to name. There are also many different animals including sheep, donkeys and a camel. You will eat samples of foods from that time. You will also be a part of the “cast”! You will be the travelers milling around in the village.

You may hear excited rumors that an angel had appeared to some shepherds or even that a savior king has been born. And of course, the highlight of the evening, as you walk through the busy streets of Bethlehem, you will find a manger with the baby Jesus!
